Embracing Your Full Self: Being Spiritual and Loving Reality TV

We love a girl that can do both: get into a super juicy meditation and breath work sesh, and then later in the day be relaxed on the couch binging the new season of Real Housewives. And we’re never feeling guilty about it!!!

We're getting real in this episode about being the most authentic version of you. We are allowed to be spiritual AND watch reality TV, enjoy celebrity gossip, be obsessed with hip hop. Whatever YOU like is ALL THAT MATTERS!

Sometimes when we are on a spiritual journey, we can think that we are meant to leave behind some of the things in our past, like we were meant to ascend past liking Real Housewives or shaking our booty in the club or just being interested in whatever the TikTok drama of the week is.

But here’s the thing…WE get to choose how we spend our time as individuals. WE get to embody the electric, powerful, magnetic authenticity that we are all so blessed to experience.

And as we've deepened our authenticity, we've come to the realization that we GET to do whatever the hell that we want, and we will not spend one more day feeling guilty about it.

So this is your sign to embody your authentic self, your FULL expression, no matter what that means for you. IT IS YOUR BIRTHRIGHT TO EMBODY YOUR FULLEST EXPRESSION!

Join us as we champion the idea that living a spiritual life doesn't have to fit within a box—it breaks it wide open.

We want to share with you our  FREE Self Doubt Workbook with you, so that you can push past limiting beliefs, self-doubt, and fears to arrive at a place of self-acceptance and self-love. HannahHost00:04

Hello, what's up everyone. Welcome back to Mindfully Moody. It's your girl, hannah, joined by my best friend and co-host, sarah, and we are here back for another episode of Mindfully Moody. Sarah, we haven't recorded in a minute since you've been in Austin, so I'm excited. I feel like it's been like a month, almost a month.

SaraHost00:23

What the hell that actually feels. Has it really almost been a month? When did you come? You came January 20th.

HannahHost00:30

I need to pull up a calendar?

SaraHost00:32

Yeah, I guess three weeks ago.

HannahHost00:34

Yeah, yeah, yeah.

SaraHost00:37

I've missed it. We've got a lot to talk about, I know, I know. And at the end of Austin, after we did our photo shoot, I literally got sick with the flu, which was not the vibe for the final evening. But you know, sometimes you got to just flow with life and what happens happens, you know.

HannahHost00:59

We were purging something, I don't know what, but hopefully you got something out.

SaraHost01:05

Oh my God. Yeah, I was purging something, but it was so fun when I was there and all of the amazing content that we got that we will still be putting out. Our photo shoot was amazing and we're really out here building a brand, so I'm proud of us.

HannahHost01:24

I am so proud of us. It was so fun and I'm excited to see what we bring into this year. I think there's going to be so much goodness and intentionality and a lot of good episodes coming, as we are ever evolving human beings in this world going through it. I'm like, should I have a mini breakdown? No, I'm just kidding. Life's good, life is good.

SaraHost01:50

Like there's something you want to talk about, something you want to say no.

HannahHost01:56

I'm just in a weird season right now. I feel like, you know, it's just the season. I feel like we should do an episode on that. It's like just a weird season with my business, but it's actually been really good. Obviously, having your own business can be really super stressful, but I feel the most grounded, even though there's stressful situations happening. I feel the most grounded and I still find myself in having a lot of joy and a lot of peace and a lot of excitement, Even though some parts of my life feel chaotic. And so I'm just grateful because I feel like that's the work. That's the true work is preparing yourself when shit hits the fan or when things don't go your way. Preparing yourself and being able to stay in that state of being okay still and knowing everything is going to work out. Just drop that little nugget right there.

SaraHost02:48

Wow, that could just be the episode. Yeah, totally agree. I feel like it's so amazing, as we are doing inner work, to then go through moments of challenge in our lives, whatever aspect of life that it is, and being like, damn, I can still be okay in this. I can stay grounded, I can stay centered, connected to my higher self. I don't have to just throw in the towel and just go into, you know, sadness and frustration, and not that you can't. You know we can feel whatever emotion is meant to come up, but really still using the tools because we've integrated them so deeply in our lives so that it doesn't take us to that same dark place or whatever you want to call it as it may have in the past.

HannahHost03:40

Yeah, 100%. I don't know if you're like this, but I just find it been lately like finding myself in moments where I'm like, damn, I love hanging out with me. Like if you're like driving in the car, like blasting Rufus or something, and you're like just like screaming the song, you're like, damn, I wish I could hang out with me. Like that's how I've been feeling lately. It's just like this is fun, like life is fun Hell.

SaraHost04:02

Yeah, I definitely feel like I'm going through a crisis. No, no, not at all. I love my own company too. Oh my gosh, it's the best. It's the best. I mean. I definitely didn't always feel that way, though, so this is reminding me. I recorded an episode I think it was this summer about like or not this summer, last summer, about becoming your own best friend, and like. That was the kind of energy that I was talking about, so go listen to that episode.

04:34

Yes, If you're interested in that of like how do you get to that? Like hell, frickin. Yeah, I am the coolest person that I could ever hang out with, so I love that, I love that.

HannahHost04:47

We'll link that in the show notes. You can go take a look. Yes, all right, what are we getting into today? We're getting into some juicy, juicy conversations. Go for it.

SaraHost04:58

So we want to talk about something that came to us while we were together in Austin, because and we were going to record this episode, but you know, as I said, I got sick in person but I feel like it just came to us when we were thinking about how can we be our most authentic selves out in the world, you know, on the podcast, in our regular lives, like and just embody all the parts of us.

05:27

Because I think sometimes, when you're on particularly a spiritual journey, or even self-development, self-growth, whatever you want to call it you can almost go so deep into that, or feel like you have to go so deep into that, that then, like you, you have to let go of the other aspects of yourself, maybe the other aspects of you that were prior to that journey. You know what I mean. So what we want to talk about is that we are spiritual girlies, but we are also pop culture girlies, real housewives, girlies, and we can still like embody that humaneness, that interest in all aspects, like keeping up with you know, whatever it is, whatever our flavor of the week is the Kardashians.

06:20

I'm kind of off them right now, but like let's roll into that. But yeah, like we do both, okay, we do both. Get you a girl that can do both, you know, get you a girl that can do both Watch reality TV.

HannahHost06:36

I hope that that was leaked at the same time.

SaraHost06:40

Housewives, whatever, and also like, meditates and does breath work and is committed to raising her consciousness in the consciousness of the planet. You know, Like we can do both Period it's reminding you of. Did you see that TikTok that was going around of like extremely smart people watched reality TV.

HannahHost06:59

And it was kind of talking about this kind of thing, yeah, so yeah, it's so interesting because, like I don't know if it's like the spiritual ego or something, like people, people like paint the spiritual community to be like a certain way, like oh, like you know, they're off their phone and like they're out in nature, they're being one, they're meditating all day and it's like damn, like that's cool Sometimes. But like I don't want to meditate all day and like I sometimes want to listen to some gossip and like a lot of times for me and maybe this isn't necessarily a healthy habit, but like I sometimes need to shut off my brain and like some people have hobbies and you know other things that they do to like maybe it is like reading or whatever, but like for me, shutting off my brain and like just like getting submerged into another world is self care for me sometimes Like oh, yeah, 100%, and like there is nothing wrong with that.

SaraHost08:03

I don't think that it's unhealthy at all. I feel like it's normal. It's normal to want to just kind of veg out and watch other people go through their life shit on TV, or to scroll TikTok. I was scrolling TikTok a little bit this morning and I was literally freaking, laughing my ass off.

08:23

The guy, the guy with the videos, the guy with the freaking videos that you sent me. Now he's on my YouTube page all the time and it was like one or he was doing like you. Like you order like steak rare at a restaurant and like he's like he's a carnivore.

HannahHost08:44

Yeah, I wish I could be like you man. That's so cool. Oh, I could never go.

SaraHost08:51

well, done me, oh my God, it's so funny. The ice bath one. I'm like that is hilarious.

HannahHost09:01

I want people to take ice baths. I just like to regulate my nervous system.

SaraHost09:07

Okay, Andrew.

HannahHost09:08

Huberman.

SaraHost09:10

Obsessed, obsessed.

HannahHost09:14

Like give that guy an award.

SaraHost09:15

He's hilarious.

HannahHost09:20

Oh my gosh, he kills me, give him a little hype. But yeah, and it's funny, like we, we it's personality, it's character. You know what I'm saying. I remember, like when I started like hanging out more in like that spiritual community in Austin, like I kind of thought it's like you kind of think these people are all like healthy and they're all like you know straight edge and like whatever you kind of like create a character for them. And then you feel like you need to fit into that. And then I started to get to know people. I'm like, okay, well, yeah, wait, these people actually like drink sometimes and get drunk, or like you know, or like these people like one of my friends that like I didn't know well at the beginning, it's like she loves Real Housewives, like we talk about it, and I'm like, okay, like everyone has that, like you know what I mean, Like people have their thing and like that's cool For me.

10:14

What I noticed is like that it just is an interesting contrast that I don't necessarily show on social media but is like a big part of my life.

10:24

Yeah, I'm preaching like all this, like self love and like growth and like tap into your potential, but then, like in my car. I'm literally like wrapping 50 cent, like just dirty grimy hip hop, like swearing, cussing, like you know what it cussing. Like I'm going hard as fuck in the paint wrapping in my car and it's like people don't see that. But like I'm multi dimensional and I love that about me. And like I want to show more of that side of me because like that, not like that hip hop and rap makes me me, but like that's a fun side of me, you know. And like it's cool to have all these different sides, like whatever it is. Like if you're interested in like reality TV or if you love hip hop or things don't always have to be like how society makes it out to be you can be multi dimensional and still have self love and still be spiritual and still you know all of these things.

SaraHost11:23

Absolutely. And I do think that there is a really big, like spiritual ego aspect to it. Like I'm thinking about like people that I knew in the Bay Area like oh, these people were not watching Real Housewives, like how, yeah, they were like what is? And they were like looking down on you for watching yeah, exactly, you know, like there definitely is that kind of vibration out there of like okay, well, I've ascended to being more superior than, like that kind of humanness. You know, like I have reached new heights.

12:01

You know, Like I can reach the heights and I can still, you know, go dig in for the reality TV.

HannahHost12:09

Well, and it's interesting, like if you actually think about those people like that are looking, they're almost, in a way, like those people who have really high spiritual egos and they're like, oh no, I don't watch reality TV. Like that's the people. Maybe it doesn't come from a judgmental place, but like if people are looking down on you for watching reality TV and being spiritual, it's like they're now judging. So what's worse, them judging or me watching the reality TV?

SaraHost12:39

you know, amen, amen. It's literally reminding me so, when I was at the retreat in Columbia in in November, and you know we are so deeply connected. You know everyone like is having crazy experiences. People are realizing their medium psychics, like I mean so freaking, tapped in and it's like the last day and there's like basically no Wi-Fi at the resort. Like I could like never get connected to Wi-Fi, whatever. It was fine, but like so we're like at the thing, you know, we're like getting ready to leave and you know everyone well, we are also like recovering from being sick.

13:20

And then it starts like oh, oh shit, like the new season of selling sunset came out. And then we're like all like on our phones, like desperately trying to like download the episodes to the new season. And I'm like here we are, you know, just like you know so connected to our intuition and the land and like all these things. And then we're like we need to see this show, like we need to watch this content, like I need to get in touch with my humanity, you know, and I was so sad because, like one of the girls that was there, like she's like, oh, it's working for me. I'm like it's not working, I can't download it, like there's only one episode to download it.

HannahHost14:02

You're like I've been up talking to the angels and guides for a little too long. I need to get a little grounded right now with the Crissel drama.

SaraHost14:09

Seriously, though, and I feel that in my life and that is something that I've definitely given myself just so much more permission, like if I'm like having doing some heavy spiritual work, like I swear, like I need that humaneness to bring me like, and whatever that humeness is like a lot of times it is like watching a show, whether it be reality TV, something on Netflix, a documentary, you know some, and not some educational documentary. Okay, I'm talking about some shit that pulls you in. Some drama is what I'm talking about? Tiger King, some toxicity yeah, some toxicity. I mean I used to be really on. Now I have kind of shifted away from this because actually, it started to scare me.

14:52

True crime I was on true crime for a long time. I'm my early spiritual journey. Now I'm like I actually I can't but like if that's your thing, like that might be your flavor of like humanity, you know, and like that's, that's cool. It's like give yourself the permission to be whoever you are. You don't have to become a spiritually inclined person or, as you're raising your consciousness, be like anything that connects me to you know, the person that I was before. Oh no, I got to ditch all of those things because now I'm, you know, in a new place, like no, you can still bring those, those things that you love from the past along, yeah.

HannahHost15:35

And I don't know if this is like not not a sense of like rebellion, but it's more like this new age spirituality, like we want things to work for us, we want to live lives that are aligned to us and our higher selves.

15:52

And I feel like a lot of times, like religion kind of look down on that right. Like you know, if you're in this specific religion, then you have to follow these rules and act a certain way. And I think that it could be like maybe what for me? It's like thinking about religion and like having that structure. It's like I don't want to have to stick to a structure. I want to be a spiritual queen tapping into the Akashic records one day, and then I want to go be shaking my ass on the dance floor the next to some Drake you know what I mean and like that's an aligned life for me. And it's funny because we're actually going to be doing that in a few weeks. We're going to be, you know, probably doing a little woman circle full moon circle on a Wednesday and then popping bottles in the club in Miami on Thursday. Like let's go.

SaraHost16:33

Okay, yeah, that brings. That brings up a good point too. It's like, and we talk a lot about shifting our relationships, of drinking and going out and whatever and 100% I have. But listen, I'm about to turn up for my bachelorette party, okay, and I, I'm going to, I'm going to channel, you know, 25 year old Sarah a little bit, and that's okay. That's okay, you know, and I'm not going to feel guilty about it, except when I'm hungover and I'm dying, but it's like we're going to go out.

HannahHost17:02

Okay, you guys we do. Yeah, we talk about like not drinking and stuff, but like we also do like to have a good time. Okay, Sometimes, Guess what, I'm not drunk. Sometimes it's been a while in a while, but like we're probably going to. You know, it's not like we're like get, let's get black out, Like it's not like black or white. I feel like I feel like it's moderation in everything you know.

SaraHost17:25

Yeah, totally, but still being able to do the things that you love, like if you loved to go out and dance and party with your friends, like that doesn't mean that you can't do that anymore. You know, like you love to go to music festivals and you know, whatever do what you do, like you can still do what you do. You know, and I guess a lot of spiritual people go to music festivals that's not like non-spiritual, but you know what I mean. It's like you can make your own freaking rules for your life. And I think the part that you said about religion is really relevant, because I do think that spirituality can be lumped in sometimes with that that like religion, like rule type of thing. But our flavor of spirituality is like no, no, no, no, no, no, no one's going to tell you what to do. You make the rules for yourself. So if you want to, you know, shake your ass in the club, keep shaking your ass in the club.

18:24

If you want to watch a Real Housewife marathon, I mean I literally this morning I was cleaning. I watched Real Housewives of Beverly Hills. I watched Real Housewives of Miami. I watched Southern Hospitality. Okay, three episodes in a row. Three episodes in a row. That was two and a half hours of my time, and you know what I loved every second of it.

HannahHost18:47

I love it and I think you know there even is an opportunity for us to be even. It's not that we're not being honest, but for us to be more real about like things like this, because we do sometimes take an approach on the podcast where we're like in this teacher mindset or like really focusing on our spiritual lessons but like damn, are we learning some lessons from reality TV? You know we're learning there too and we're learning about people. Oh, by the way, love Is Blind just came out with a new episode, a season, and I already finished the whole thing.

SaraHost19:17

So okay, I gotta get on that. I gotta it's pretty good, it's pretty good. Okay okay, I gotta get on that I'm ready for a new, because I'm so in the Bravo universe.

HannahHost19:27

I'm like let me get another show going. I watched it.

SaraHost19:31

Well, me too now. Okay, like now, let's just get in some Bravo Gossop like Vanderpump sucks this season, man, I'm seeing so much. Tik Tok, Tik Tok stuff about it too, Like there's just just cut the show. At this point I'm over it.

HannahHost19:48

Are they going to go to Tahoe? That's the real question, Like what's going to happen?

SaraHost19:51

Well, they do go to Tahoe, because I remember they were seen in Tahoe. Like I remember that was a thing at the time of when they were filming that it was like Ariana and Tom are in Tahoe together, like the whole thing about it. So they're definitely going to go to Tahoe, but it's like, oh yeah, you know what Tom Sandoval teaches us a lot about narcissists, you know? It's like this is content that people need to see, because, oh my gosh, this guy is insufferable. Dude, it's insufferable, it's bad.

20:24

It's really bad. It's a really, really bad. And Schwartz teaches us about codependency. You know, it's like there are a lot of psychological lessons in these shows. That's why they said smart people watch reality TV.

HannahHost20:38

Yeah, I was going to say, if anything, we're just getting smarter analyzing these motherfuckers. Yeah, it's interesting. People have to own. People have to own what they like, you know. Just embody it and like, end of the day, like if you are spiritual and you have things that you feel don't necessarily fit into your identity as a spiritual person, you're afraid to you know you're going to get judged based off of it. Those people that are judging you based off of the things that you like probably aren't a good fit anyway. So it's like, just own the things that you like and embody it. And yeah, because it's like why not?

SaraHost21:20

Yeah, and also like I mean this is just coming to me now that people are not always honest. You know, it's like you could have someone who's like presenting as this like ultra spiritual. You know, I'm so connected, I'm so in tune, and like I could never watch reality TV or I could never, you know, drink alcohol, or I could never. It's like you're taking everyone at their word. Yeah, you know what I mean.

21:48

And like yes, there are so many people that are authentic in the world. There are also a lot of people that aren't authentic, so you don't. You don't live with someone in their house 24 seven. Just because someone says they don't do something doesn't actually mean that that's true. You know what?

HannahHost22:03

I mean Right, right, yeah, I have a friend who's like dating, was dating this guy at some point. That was like super spiritual and it like there was like a whole thing around like not drinking or like you know doing anything unhealthy and like I saw that that created almost a sense of like guilt. It's like when you get like so far sucked in that then you and then like you want to reverse it and do something else. It's like you almost feel this sense of like guilt. Or someone maybe who was like went into like the world of like being vegan or like vegetarian, like in a relationship, or they were trying to fit in with a group of people and then they realized like no, like actually meat is really good for me. It's like then, like they have a sense of guilt or something for going back to like what they actually wanted to do.

22:48

I think a lot of people just want to fit in. That's interesting Like people. People want to conform and fit into a specific group, to be accepted. But if you're not able to be true, your true self, and shine your true colors and like, what's the point right?

SaraHost23:07

Absolutely. It's so true, people want to, people want to fit in, and that's why they also may not be completely honest about their true actions. And yeah, it's like just because you choose to do something for a period of time and then you decide in the future, at a future point, this is not aligned with me anymore. Like okay, I went super deep into whatever place and I did that and now I'm ready to shift into like something new or something old or whatever. It is like just giving yourself the permission to just be who the hell you are. Like that's the whole. I feel like this topic is really just being authentic, you know, like just being, yeah, being yourself, embodying your authenticity. Because what is the alternative? You know, being fake.

HannahHost24:02

Yeah, true, this is just about like being authentic. Another topic that we didn't cover yet is clothing. Like I think a lot about this. Like I've gone into different, like different eras, different seasons of fashion and definitely where I was like more spiritual, more hippie, like wearing those clothes and like trying to like dress as like that type of hippie girl and now I really was trying to like fit myself in a box. You know, we all had that like phase of like the beiges and the whites and like I want to just be like that, like soft, like basic.

24:39

And now I'm like it was really frustrating me because I was like I just want an aesthetic that like that feels like me, and then I'm like fuck that, like I do not need an aesthetic. One day I can dress like a CEO. One day I can dress like I'm going to music festival. One day I can dress like I'm going to go to the club and like I have all of these different personalities in my closet and like I love that about my style. Like I don't need to have a specific aesthetic that matches my quote, unquote brand. Like maybe what I already am is like colorful and like different textures and styles. Like that is my, you know style.

25:13

So it's like it sees no limits, Like whatever, like what you were saying, like whatever feels authentic to you in the moment, like ride on that and like follow it.

SaraHost25:25

I love it. Clothing is such a good example too, because, hell yeah, it's like I have the same. I have the same thing. Like I tried to like go into that super neutral vibe, which I still dress like that sometimes and then I dress in bright, bright, super bright colors, and then I wear a flowy dress and then I'm like in leggings and a t-shirt, and then I'm like in street style and then I'm in sneakers and then I'm in, yeah, like whatever, and I'm just going with what I want to be, and it's what's coming to my mind now too, is, like you know, social media is, you know, some comedic relief and some great inspiring content sometimes.

26:09

But like, don't let yourself get too caught up in what you see on social media. I feel like that's why, a lot of times, I tried to go off for my authenticity, like, oh, everyone else is wearing like neutrals and all like vibes. Like, let me get into that, you know, because, like, this seems like what's accepted and I think all this is subconscious most of the time. But just like consumerism on social media too, like, buy what you want to buy.

26:38

You know don't get pulled into buying all this shit because you see influencers buying it or whatever it's like, just do, do you, do you okay.

HannahHost26:52

We're thinking up here.

SaraHost26:53

Be free, you know, do your thing Be yourself.

HannahHost26:57

Who knew that? This episode just it's like in life, things come back to a handful of things. It's like love over fear. Authenticity, tap into your eyes Like we're just the buzzwords, but it's the real shit. You know what I mean? Like be authentically you, those people who make fun of you, those people who don't ride for it. Flip them the bird. I'm dropping a lot of F? F words here today. I don't know. I'm feeling spicy. I have zero fucks left. Oh, sorry, sorry, guys.

SaraHost27:31

Watch Excuse my friend she's not, that was authentic, that was authentic of her she's not even sorry.

HannahHost27:36

Thank you, I'm not. I'm really not. Thank you for calling me out. Get you a friend that's going to hold you to it.

SaraHost27:44

Oh, wow, I love that. Okay, this is an amazing episode. Just some free flowing authenticity, baby. And if you liked this episode, go share this with a friend. Maybe you have someone in your life that maybe you do spiritual stuff with and you also watch the housewives with, or you don't, and like you're trying to open up more people in your community to this kind of authenticity, share this episode with them, because we want to spread the word of people just being who they are, doing the things that they want to do when they want to do them, and stepping into their power. So get out there.
